{"id":329,"date":"2020-02-10T19:56:49","date_gmt":"2020-02-10T18:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/disa\/?p=329"},"modified":"2020-02-10T19:57:16","modified_gmt":"2020-02-10T18:57:16","slug":"seminar-mining-for-meaning-on-february-27th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/disa\/?p=329","title":{"rendered":"Seminar &#8220;Mining for Meaning&#8221; on February 27th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 2\/27 <strong>Miriam Hurtado Bodell<\/strong> (Link\u00f6ping University) will hold a seminar on <em><b>Mining for meaning &#8211; analyzing\u00a0the public discourse on immigration using textual data.<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Miriam will present the preliminary results of the VR-funded project <a href=\"https:\/\/liu.se\/en\/research\/computational-text-analysis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Mining for meaning<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which uses large-scale computational text analysis to study:<br \/>\n&#8220;[&#8230;] the discourse dynamics between politicians, media, and the public to understand meaning making, explore shifts in sentiment, and follow how collectively agreed narratives arise. This gives us insights into the constantly changing public opinions and the narratives to which they give rise.
