This year the theme is &#8220;Complex Pasts &#8211; Diverse Futures&#8221;.<br \/><br \/>Our UNESCO Chair on Heritage Futures participates in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icomos.org\/en\/focus\/18-april-international-day-for-monuments-and-sites\/91376-international-day-of-monuments-and-sites-18-april-2021-events#Sweden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Programme<\/a>, representing Sweden, with a digital exhibition entitled <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lnu.se\/en\/diverse-futures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Balloon Head: Iran\u2019s Constitutional Revolution Reconfigured<\/a> <\/strong>and curated by Leila Papoli-Yazdi.<a href=\"https:\/\/lnu.se\/en\/diverse-futures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1788\" src=\"http:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/files\/2021\/04\/Balloon-Head-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2021\/04\/Balloon-Head-1.jpg 377w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2021\/04\/Balloon-Head-1-277x300.jpg 277w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 284px) 100vw, 284px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Focusing on Iran\u2019s Mashrouteh (Constitutional) Revolution, <strong>Ali Roustaeeyanfard\u2019s<\/strong> paintings reconfigure historical photographs of complex historic events and processes at the beginning of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\r\n<p>By adding colourful anachronistic details to the original motifs of the photographs his work depicts unimagined futures and the need to re-narrate the past in every present. The paintings illustrate that there are unexpected and diverse futures, both of the past and of the tangible heritage that reminds us of the past in the present. Roustaeeyanfard\u2019s hope is to revive the forgotten heritage and history of voiceless people in order to fulfil their original dream of achieving freedom and progress through the Revolution.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>18 April is the International Day of Monuments and Sites, coordinated by ICOMOS.
