She has been the Director of the National Museum of Serbia in Belgrade (2003-2012).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2025\/09\/image-1024x540.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4075\" style=\"width:520px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2025\/09\/image-1024x540.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2025\/09\/image-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2025\/09\/image-768x405.png 768w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2025\/09\/image.png 1403w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>In her lecture, Cvjeti\u0107anin asked whether archaeological heritage really always provides benefits for the future, whether it is sensible to do archaeological &#8220;hoarding&#8221; of finds in collections, and why we always have to fear the future for perpetual crises of endangerment of archaeological heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, she referred to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/heritage-futures.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Heritage Futures<\/a><\/em> project (<a href=\"https:\/\/uclpress.co.uk\/book\/heritage-futures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Harrison et al 2020<\/a>) and emphasized archaeologists&#8217; responsibility to work with the public for the public, described the nature of their work as &#8216;heritage-making&#8217;, and insisted on the temporally and spatially variable value of archaeological heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Very interesting to follow in lectures like this one how heritage futures are gradually becoming mainstream in Archaeology&#8230; \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I listened today to the keynote lecture by Tatjana Cvjeti\u0107anin during the Opening session of the Annual Conference of the European Association of Archaeologists in 2025.
