{"id":43,"date":"2017-12-10T22:00:29","date_gmt":"2017-12-10T21:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/?p=43"},"modified":"2018-01-26T22:09:23","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T21:09:23","slug":"arch-out-loud-designing-a-surface-marker-for-a-geological-repository-of-nuclear-waste-for-the-benefit-of-our-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/?p=43","title":{"rendered":"Arch Out Loud: Designing a Surface Marker for a Geological Repository of Nuclear Waste for the Benefit of Our Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In October 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/lnu.se\/en\/research\/searchresearch\/forskningsprojekt\/assembling-alternative-futures-for-heritage\/\">a group of researchers<\/a> in archaeology at Linnaeus University submitted an entry into the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.archoutloud.com\/nuclear.html\">arch out loud competition for designing a Nuclear Landmarker<\/a> at the site of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>We had been working for the past six years in close collaboration with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skb.com\/\">Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co.<\/a> (SKB) addressing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skb.se\/forskning-och-teknik\/temasidor\/informationsbevarande\/de-later-historien-kasta-nytt-ljus-pa-framtiden\/\">questions about long-term communication<\/a> in relation to final repositories of nuclear waste.
