{"id":4493,"date":"2026-02-04T20:01:50","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T19:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/?p=4493"},"modified":"2026-02-04T20:01:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T19:01:51","slug":"hopemaking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/?p=4493","title":{"rendered":"Hopemaking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As many as four of us (Emily Hanscam, Gustav Wollentz, Marcy Rockman and Cornelius Holtorf) participated actively in a stimulating workshop in H\u00f6\u00f6r (Scania, Sweden) on Hopemaking, bringing together artists, an art curator, and scholars at Linnaeus University in English Literature and us in Archaeology with different agendas exploring common ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project explores hopemaking as a way of countering the paralyzing predisposition to imagine future disaster as inevitable and of nurturing alternative cultures of hope and resilience. In the project, we collaborate with three local artists and Kalmar Art Museum in the context of their exhibition entitled &#8220;Survival Kit&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" src=\"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2026\/02\/image-1-1024x577.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4497\" style=\"width:602px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2026\/02\/image-1-1024x577.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2026\/02\/image-1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2026\/02\/image-1-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2026\/02\/image-1-1536x865.png 1536w, https:\/\/blogg.lnu.se\/unesco\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/209\/files\/sites\/209\/2026\/02\/image-1.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><br>Particularly exciting was to meet the two artists behind <a href=\"http:\/\/kultivator.org\">Kultivator<\/a>, Malin and Mathieu. In their experimental work, they combine art with agriculture. For our project, they are keen to contribute to hopemaking by visualizing different futures.
