Årets Nobelpristagare i ekonomi – This year’s Nobel Prize Winner(s) in Economics

5 oktober, 2015

Since 2001, I have tried every year to single out the winners of the so-called Nobel Prize in Economics. Altogether, I got the right name 18 times. But this year I refrain from producing a new list of candidates. However, I will be ready to make comments on the winner of 2015 after the official announcement (see above). Today, I just want to mention six relevant research areas which, however, only reflect my personal preferences and, consequently, no forecasts.

My own preferred research areas for 2015 are (without ranking):

# Inequality and poverty

# Growth and development economics

# Entrepreneurship and incentives

# Experimental and interdisciplinary research (economics &behavior, sociology, politics, environment)

# Labor markets (migration included)

# Consumption and specific business cycle research.

These are the research areas I personally would consider before making a decision on just one. Thus – again – it is no selection in line with probable voting results. Maybe I will get back to you next year with a corresponding, extended approach – by giving you my own subjective name preferences for the winner(s) of the most prestigious award in economics.
