Welcome to our Research Group: Marine Phytoplankton Ecology and Applications
2020-06-09
Who are we?
We are a group of marine ecologists who study phytoplankton and food web interactions in the environment, focusing on the Baltic Sea. But we are so, so much more than that.
Based in Kalmar, Sweden, our research group encompasses a wide range of experience: we have scientists, artists, a social scientists, economists, musicians, maritime experts, and a veterinarian. We care deeply about citizen science, and how we can use algae research to develop solution-based partnerships in society, politics and education. We adhere to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and work within knowledge-environments for water as we enter the Ocean Decade.
In this blog, we discuss our many projects, share our triumphs within the world of marine ecology and beyond, and create a forum for addressing challenges we face in sustainable solutions.
