Co-chairing at BESC2017

BESC 2017 is the 4th International Conference on Behavioral, Economic, and Socio-Cultural Computing and will take place in AGH – University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland / 16-18 October, 2017. BESC 2017 aims to become a premier forum for researchers and industry practitioners from data mining, artificial intelligence, statistics and analytics, business and marketing, finance and politics, and behavioral, economic, social and psychological sciences can meet, present and together identify future research directions.

Our own Koraljka Golub, Accociate Professor and involved in the DISA work in Digital Humanities will be Co-chairing the track for Digital Humanities during the conference.

Closer cooperation with Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH)

The Linnaeus University Centre for Data Intensive Sciences and Applications (DISA) is building closer cooperation with Computer Science at BTH since both of our universities have similar profiles and we can benefit by working together. At the moment we are discussing a joint proposal to the KK-foundation for a PhD-school with close partners from the industry, as partners in this proposal we will also find other partners. 5 new PhD students wanted!

Linnaeus University Center for Data Intensive Science and Applications (DISA) has taken the first steps to build new competencies to the newly established research environment by opening up five positions for PhD students.

  • Physics with specialization in “Big Data in Astroparticle Physics”
  • Computer Science with specialization in Software and Information Quality
  • Computer Science with specialization in Visual Analytics
  • Computer Science with specialization on eHealth
  • Computer Science with specialization on formal methods and Security
